Many dealerships claim "we don't ship hazardous materials, so we don't have to worry about Hazmat training." Although that kind of thinking seems logical, it can have potentially dire results.

Whether you ship hazardous materials once a year or every day, the hazards are the same. If you are shipping a hazardous load down the street or across the country, a small amount or container load, Title 49 of the Hazardous Materials Regulations (49 CFR, parts 171-180) cannot be ignored. Every employee who may affect the safety of hazardous materials at your dealership is a hazmat employee and must be trained.
